Elsie Whitehead Reeth Obituary: Family Pays Tribute After Fatal North Yorkshire Collision – The family of Elsie Whitehead, 71, from Reeth, has shared a moving tribute following her tragic death in a road traffic collision in North Yorkshire.

Mrs Whitehead died after a crash that occurred at approximately 6:55 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27, on the B6271 between Northallerton and Great Langton, close to the Streetlam turnoff. A red Kia Stonic left the roadway and struck a tree.

In a statement released through police, her family expressed sincere gratitude to everyone who offered help in the immediate aftermath. They thanked the emergency services for their “dedication, care, and compassion,” and also acknowledged members of the public who stopped at the scene, saying their kindness brought comfort during an incredibly painful time.

The family said they have been deeply moved by the outpouring of support and condolences they have received, and they have respectfully requested privacy, asking not to be contacted by the media.

North Yorkshire Police have confirmed that investigations into the collision are ongoing and have renewed their appeal for information. Officers are asking any witnesses who have not yet come forward to do so and are particularly interested in dashcam or CCTV footage showing the collision or the red Kia Stonic travelling along the B6271 prior to the crash.

Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the Major Collision Investigation Team as inquiries continue.
